Privacy & Cookies
The short, honest version: no advertising, no analytics, no trackers, and nothing sold or shared — ever. There’s no database of visitors and no profile of you anywhere. I genuinely don’t want any of it.
What I won’t claim is “nothing is collected,” because signing in necessarily involves a little. Here’s exactly what, and where it lives.
Cookies — and why they’re actually for you
The only cookies here are the handful that make the site work for you. They sit in your browser, for your convenience — I never look at them as “data about you”:
- Keeping you logged in after you sign in with Patreon (
session), plus a tiny security token during login (pt_state) that vanishes within minutes. - Remembering you’re 18+ (
age18), so the site stops asking every single time — only set if you opt in.
A few things live in your browser’s local storage instead, and never leave your device: your answer to the cookie note, whether you’ve turned Theatre mode on, and — only if you said keep them on — which chapter you’re up to in each book, so the site can offer you a “continue” link and grey out what you’ve already read.
That last one waits for your answer. Read a chapter before you’ve replied to the note, or after choosing Clear cookies, and nothing about it is written down. Choosing Clear cookies also deletes any reading progress already stored. It’s a convenience, not something the site needs, so it doesn’t get to assume.
Signing in with Patreon
When you log in, Patreon tells me four things, and only four: your Patreon account id, your display name, which of my tiers you currently support, and what those tiers add up to per month. That last one is shown back to you in the footer; the rest is what unlocks the chapters your pledge includes.
All of it goes into a signed cookie in your browser and nowhere else. There’s no copy on any server, no account for you here, and nothing to delete on my end because there’s nothing on my end. I never see your password, your email, or your payment details — Patreon handles all of that and never hands it over. When the cookie expires (about a week) or you log out, it’s gone, and the next sign-in asks Patreon again from scratch.
The bit most sites leave out
This site is served by Cloudflare, and like any host they see the IP address of each request and keep short-lived security logs — that’s how the site stays up and stops being hammered by bots. I can’t switch it off and I don’t do anything with it, but “nothing whatsoever is recorded anywhere” wouldn’t be true, so I’m not going to tell you it is.
Your call
Log out any time (that clears your session), flip 18+ editions on or off from the footer, or clear cookies in your browser settings — there’s a button for that in the cookie note, too. There’s no advertising or analytics to opt out of, because there isn’t any.
